Holiday Home & Zen Garden
This project focused on reconfiguring an existing traditional chalet to improve functionality, circulation, and the connection between interior and exterior spaces. With no existing plans available, the property was carefully measured and documented, allowing us to develop functional floor plans and explore multiple design options within the applicable urban regulations. The original porch was incorporated into the interior to create an expanded kitchen, featuring a large sliding window and new entrance door. Removing the hallway walls opened the kitchen and living areas into a more fluid, connected space while improving natural ventilation and overall flow.
The exterior was designed as an extension of the home, creating a series of distinct spaces for relaxing and entertaining. The pool terrace was extended and retiled, complemented by a new pergola, built-in custom bar with integrated ice drainage and seating. A circular Zen garden with raised planters and integrated seating introduces a calm, landscaped focal point for a fountain while a daybed area on composite decking with a shade tree, creates a comfortable space for lounging. The elements create a cohesive outdoor environment connected with Japanese paving stones that balances functionality and relaxation with native landscaping.
